Credentialing

MCITC has tailored its Medical Billing Specialist/Customer Service Specialist Course (taught in the classroom) & Medical Billing/Coding Online curriculum around preparing you to pass a Nationally Recognized Certification Exam, provided by the below companies.

The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) was founded in 1988 in an effort to elevate the standards of medical coding by providing certification, ongoing education, networking, and recognition. Currently, the AAPC has a membership base of 60,000 worldwide, of which over 44,000 are certified.

AAPC certifications focus on a variety of disciplines. These disciplines encompass the physician office, Certified Professional Coder (CPC™). The certifications provide a working knowledge to support cleaner claim submission resulting in faster payment and accurate reimbursement. The AAPC offers continuing education through local chapters, workshops, monthly newsmagazine (Coding Edge), publications and conferences.

The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) provides certified credentials to medical coders in physician offices, hospital outpatient facilities, ambulatory surgical centers and in payer organizations. All members of AAPC agree to a Code of Ethics that ensures high levels of professionalism, integrity and ethical behavior.

Professional Healthcare Institute of America (PHIA) educates their certified coders to be proficient in E/M Guidelines as well as all other aspects of coding. You can review the course outline on this site for a detailed description. Since the OIG is targeting this area, it is anticipated that certified coders who take advantage of our promotion will attain some of their CEU’s in a Chart Auditing workshop.  Their most popular certification course is for the (CCP™), Certified Coding Professional. All certification courses require the completion of a written - timed exam in order to receive the certification.

PHIA, headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, is a national organization that provides credentials and curriculum for 6 different medical administrative positions (Physician and Hospital Coding, Audit Specialist, Billing, Compliance Officer, and Office Manager).

PHIA currently has Certified Healthcare Professionals in 38 states and in India - and has become the fastest growing, National award winning organization of its kind in the US.  Its parent company and continuing education arm, Medical Staff SOS (MS.SOS), provides physician-based services and workshops such as: chart auditing, group seminars and audit compliance assistance to over 3,000 healthcare clients and organizations.

Medical Staff SOS, Inc. was launched in 1998 to accommodate the need for high quality educational medical coding seminars to healthcare professionals. The industry quickly recognized their excellence and began requesting in office chart auditing and more extensive physician and staff training.
